As jazz has been one of our nation’s cultural bridge-builders around the world, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History are humbled and honored to tell this powerful, diverse, and culturally rich story through our collections, scholarship, and in-residence jazz orchestra. During this two-year journey, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra embarked on “Jazz Beyond Borders,” performing, teaching, and building relationships with communities in places such as San Francisco, Houston, and as far away as Hong Kong and Beijing.
